BBA: All-Star Ballot

Baseball’s All-Star break is fast approaching, which means only one thing: random people get to think that they have power over who is and isn’t worthy, without the requirement of actually knowing anything. That explains how Kosuke Fukudome was a starter in 2008, but that’s a rant for another day. This post only includes my votes, with my explanations to come later, due to a collision of deadlines, my vacation last week (I’ll try to get to that, hopefully, over the weekend sometime) and my not realizing how terrible I am at planning things like giant projects to determine All-Star ballots. Anyways, take this ballot with a grain of salt – I wanted to make sure I get my opinion counted in the BBA’s vote.

The Lonely Man

Our old friend Eric Bruntlett is on the move again!  Bruntlett was released by the Washington Nationals back on June 2 after shaving his beard for some godforsaken reason (really, why get rid of your one good quality!?).  Bruntlett was actually released because he was hitting .210 for Triple A Syracuse, which is beyond pathetic.  Unwanted by the Natinals, where was our old friend to go?  The Phillies have moved on and surely no one wants the scraps from the Nationals, right?

Well according to MLB Trade Rumors the New York Yankees have signed Bruntlett!  Whaaaaaaaa?

Sure it’s a minor league deal and the odds of Bruntlett actually seeing any time playing as a Yankee are slim to none, but the fact exists that there is a headline out there that reads “Yankees Sign Eric Bruntlett”.  My mind is blown.  You’re playing with fire Yankees!  Sure it may be a dull flame like that found on a birthday candle, but dammit it’s still fire!

Operation AVOID

I write this on my week-long family vacation in The Keys, so don’t be surprised if there’s a lack of posts – hell, who am I kidding? I’m supposed to be a vacation, and I’ve already written more with this post than I have in the past month.

Anyway, I figured that I’ve been watching this team lose for the past 3 (? – I’ve totally lose count by now) weeks. Maybe the best thing for my sanity will be to simply not watch them at all for the next week. If they continue to slump, meh, so I missed a week of shitty baseball. Every day the slump continues is all the more likely it’ll be that much closer to ending the next day. If they break out of it, I can say that my withdrawal from them caused it…
